# SUNARP Vehicle Lookup

> Look up a vehicle in Peru's vehicle registry (SUNARP) by plate: make, model, year, color, engine, serial and VIN, status, current owners and its registry office.

SUNARP (Superintendencia Nacional de los Registros Públicos) keeps Peru's
vehicle registry. This endpoint returns a vehicle's record by plate: its
characteristics, plates, status, current owners and the office that keeps its
partida, with a copy of the record exactly as SUNARP returned it.

`POST /pe/sunarp-vehicular/vehicle-by-plate/v1`

| Field | Type | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| `plate` | string | **Required.** The vehicle plate, e.g. `ABC123`. Case, spaces and hyphens are ignored. |

```bash theme={"dark"}
curl https://api.croma.run/pe/sunarp-vehicular/vehicle-by-plate/v1 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CROMA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "plate": "ABC123" }'
```

## Response

| Field | Notes |
| - | - |
| `found` | `false` when SUNARP has no vehicle with that plate. |
| `plate` | Echoes the plate searched (uppercased, without spaces or hyphens). |
| `current_plate`, `previous_plate` | The plate in force and the one before it (`null` when none). |
| `make`, `model`, `model_year`, `color` | As SUNARP records them. |
| `engine_number`, `serial_number`, `vin` | The vehicle's identifiers. |
| `vehicle_status` | E.g. `EN CIRCULACION`. |
| `annotations` | SUNARP's one-line annotations summary, or `null` when none. |
| `theft_alert` | A stolen-vehicle notice, else `null`. |
| `owners[]` | Current owners as SUNARP prints them, `SURNAMES, GIVEN NAMES`. Names only. |
| `registry_offices[]` | Where the vehicle is registered: `office`, `office_code` and `partida_number` (pass it to the [registry entry](/guides/peru/sunarp) endpoint). |
| `generated_at` | When SUNARP produced the record. |
| `document_url` | Our stored copy of the record exactly as SUNARP returned it (PNG). |

<Note>
  This lookup can take longer than a typical request. It is an
  [async job](/async-jobs). By default the request waits inline and returns
  `{ data }`, or you can poll / use a `callback_url`.
