# Ministerio de Turismo

> Search El Salvador's official tourism directory, from destinations and tourist sites to restaurants, lodging, transport, surf schools and certified tour guides, read any place in full with its photos, and search the official agenda of events.

El Salvador's Ministerio de Turismo publishes the country's official tourism directory: about 3,800 places, among them 124 destinations filed under themes such as Surf City, Bitcoin destinations, nature and adventure, archaeological parks, towns and wellness, 52 public and private tourist sites, some 2,200 restaurants, 500 lodgings, 370 transport services, recreation and tourist information, surf schools and 300 certified tour guides with the languages they work in. Businesses inscribed in the national tourism registry are flagged as such, and each place comes with its department and town and, for businesses, the contact details the directory publishes. The Ministerio also keeps an agenda of festivals, fairs, concerts and cultural events across the country.

Search the directory by kind, theme, department, town, guide language or free text, then read any place in full, with the description and photos of each destination. Search the agenda by date range, department or free text.

<Note>
  The whole source, organized and ready to query: every endpoint on this page answers in milliseconds. Every response carries `as_of`: how current the data is. [How datasets work](/datasets).
</Note>

## Search places

`POST /sv/mitur-sv/places-search/v1` <a className="dataset-pill" href="/datasets">Dataset</a>

One search over the whole directory, filtered by kind, theme, department, town, guide language or registry status.

| Field | Type | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| `query` | string | Optional words matched against the name, description, address, town and region, e.g. `El Tunco`, `café`, `volcán`. |
| `kind` | enum | Optional kind: `destination`, `attraction`, `restaurant`, `lodging`, `transport`, `recreation`, `tourist_info`, `surf_school` or `guide`. |
| `theme` | enum | Optional theme of a destination: `surf_city`, `bitcoin`, `nature_adventure`, `archaeology`, `towns`, `wellness` or `regional`. |
| `department` | enum | Optional department of El Salvador, e.g. `La Libertad`, `Santa Ana`, `Usulután`. |
| `municipality` | string | Optional town, e.g. `Suchitoto`, `Tamanique`, matched from the start. Case and accents are ignored. |
| `language` | enum | Optional language a guide works in: `es`, `en`, `fr`, `it`, `de`, `pt` or `nah` (Náhuat). |
| `registered_only` | boolean | When true, only businesses inscribed in the national tourism registry. Default `false`. |
| `page` | integer | 1-based page number. Default `1`. |
| `per_page` | integer | Results per page (1-50). Default `20`. |

```bash theme={"dark"}
curl https://api.croma.run/sv/mitur-sv/places-search/v1 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CROMA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "query": "El Tunco", "kind": "lodging", "department": "La Libertad" }'
```

Returns `as_of` (how current the data is), the applied filters, `total` and `total_is_exact`, `page`, `per_page`, `total_pages`, `count` and `results[]`: best match first when `query` is given, then businesses in the national tourism registry, then the most recently updated. Every result carries `id` (the place's permanent id in the directory, e.g. `2905`), `slug`, `name`, `kind`, `themes`, `guide_level` (for guides: `site`, `local` or `national`), `registered` (inscribed in the national tourism registry), `access` (for tourist sites: `public` or `private`), `department`, `municipality`, `region`, `languages` (for guides), `hours`, `phones`, `emails`, `address`, `website`, `whatsapp`, `social_links`, `official_url` (the place's page on the official tourism site) and `updated_at`. Guides carry their name, languages, level and area, never their personal contacts: `phones`, `emails` and `address` are empty for them.

<Note>
  Search results leave out a destination's description and photos. Read them with the El Salvador Tourism Place endpoint.
</Note>

## One place, in full

`POST /sv/mitur-sv/place/v1` <a className="dataset-pill" href="/datasets">Dataset</a>

| Field | Type | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| `place_id` | string | **Required.** The place's `id` from a search result, e.g. `2905`, its `slug`, or its `official_url`. |

```bash theme={"dark"}
curl https://api.croma.run/sv/mitur-sv/place/v1 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CROMA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "place_id": "2905" }'
```

Returns `as_of`, `found`, `place_id` and `place`, which carries everything the search returns plus `description` (the Ministerio's text about a destination) and `photos[]`: each with `document_url` (Croma's copy of the photo, byte for byte as published, which stays available whatever happens to the original link) and `source_document_url` (the photo on the official site).

<Note>
  An id, slug or link the directory does not hold returns `found: false` with HTTP 200, not an error.
</Note>

## Search events

`POST /sv/mitur-sv/events-search/v1` <a className="dataset-pill" href="/datasets">Dataset</a>

The official agenda, soonest first, by date range, department or free text.

| Field | Type | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| `query` | string | Optional words matched against the event's name and venue, e.g. `festival`, `Suchitoto`. |
| `department` | enum | Optional department of El Salvador, e.g. `La Libertad`, `Santa Ana`, `Usulután`. |
| `from_date` | string | Optional: only events still running on or after this date, `yyyy-mm-dd`. Today in El Salvador when left out. |
| `to_date` | string | Optional: only events that start on or before this date, `yyyy-mm-dd`. |
| `page` | integer | 1-based page number. Default `1`. |
| `per_page` | integer | Results per page (1-50). Default `20`. |

```bash theme={"dark"}
curl https://api.croma.run/sv/mitur-sv/events-search/v1 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CROMA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "department": "San Salvador" }'
```

Returns `as_of`, the applied filters (with the `from_date` actually used), `total` and `total_is_exact`, `page`, `per_page`, `total_pages`, `count` and `results[]`, soonest first. Each event carries `id`, `slug`, `name`, `start_date`, `end_date`, `venue`, `department`, `links` (the organiser's page, tickets or a post, when the agenda gives them), `official_url` and `updated_at`.

<Note>
  Without `from_date`, the search returns events that have not ended yet, counted from today in El Salvador.
