# DANE

> Colombia's official statistics from DANE: labour-market series for the nation and 32 cities, monetary and multidimensional poverty by department, and the 2018 census and multidimensional poverty for every municipality, keyed by DIVIPOLA code.

The official statistics of the Departamento Administrativo Nacional de
Estadística (DANE): the labour market from the household survey (GEIH),
monetary and multidimensional poverty, and the 2018 national census, with
every territory keyed by its DIVIPOLA code so the series join with any other
source by department or municipality.

Every series is organized and ready to query: the unemployment rate of a city
over twenty years, the multidimensional poverty of every department, or the
estrato distribution of a municipality's dwellings, each in one fast call.

## Labour market

`POST /co/dane/labour-market/v1` <a className="dataset-pill" href="/datasets">Dataset</a>

The labour-market series, filtered by any combination of territory,
indicator, period type, domain and dates. Newest period first.

| `territory_code` | string | Optional DIVIPOLA code: 2 digits for a department (`44`), 5 for a municipality (`44001`). A metropolitan area answers to its core municipality's code. |
| `territory_level` | enum | Optional: `national`, `region`, `department`, `metropolitan_area`, `city` or `city_aggregate` (a group of cities, e.g. the 13 main cities). |
| `indicator_code` | enum | Optional: `unemployment_rate` (TD), `employment_rate` (TO), `participation_rate` (TGP), `underemployment_rate` (TS), `working_age_share`, the combined underutilization rates, or a population in thousands (`population`, `labour_force`, `employed`, `unemployed`, ...). |
| `period_type` | enum | Optional: `monthly` (the nation and the 13 main cities), `rolling_quarter` (23 cities and metropolitan areas) or `rolling_year` (32 cities). A rolling period is dated by its last month. |
| `domain` | enum | Optional: `total` or `urban` (cabeceras, national only). |
| `from_date` | string | Optional. First month (`yyyy-mm-dd`, the month it falls in counts). |
| `to_date` | string | Optional. Last month (`yyyy-mm-dd`, inclusive). |
| `page` | integer | Optional. 1-based page. Default `1`. |
| `per_page` | integer | Optional. Results per page, 1-500. Default `100`. |

## Poverty

`POST /co/dane/poverty/v1` <a className="dataset-pill" href="/datasets">Dataset</a>

Monetary and multidimensional poverty, filtered by territory, indicator,
domain and years. Most recent year first.

## Municipal IPM

The 2018 census multidimensional poverty of a municipality, of every
municipality of a department, or of the municipalities whose name matches.

## Census by municipality

The 2018 census profile of a municipality, of every municipality of a
department, or of the municipalities whose name matches.

Every response carries `as_of`: how current the data is.

### Labour market and poverty (`results[]`)

| `territory_code` | DIVIPOLA code, or null for the nation, regions and groups of cities. |
| `territory_name`, `territory_level` | The territory as DANE names it, and its kind. |
| `domain` | `total`, `urban` or `rural`. |
| `indicator_code`, `indicator` | The indicator, and its name at DANE. |
| `unit` | `percent`, `thousands_of_people`, `cop_per_month` (current pesos per person per month) or `coefficient` (Gini). |
| `period`, `period_type`, `period_start` | Labour market only: the month (`yyyy-mm`), or the last month of a rolling quarter or year. |
| `year` | The year measured. |
| `value` | The value as DANE published it. |
| `release` | The release the value comes from. |
| `document_url`, `source_document_url` | `document_url` is the DANE workbook the value comes from, exactly as DANE published it and always available at that link; `source_document_url` is the same workbook at DANE. |

### Municipal IPM (`results[]`)

`territory_code`, `territory_name`, `department_code`, `department_name`,
`year` (2018), `ipm`, `ipm_urban`, `ipm_rural` (percent of people in
multidimensionally poor households), `deprivations[]` (`indicator_code`,
`indicator`, `total`, `urban`, `rural` for each of the fifteen
deprivations), `document_url` and `source_document_url`.

### Census by municipality (`results[]`)

`territory_code`, `territory_name`, `department_code`, `department_name`,
`year` (2018), `latitude`, `longitude`, `area_km2`, `population`
(`total`, `men`, `women`, `in_households`, `in_group_quarters`), `age`
(ten-year bands), `education`, `households`, `dwellings` (by type and
occupancy), `services` (electricity, water, sewerage, gas, garbage
collection, internet), `estrato` (dwellings by the estrato they are billed
in for electricity: `e1` to `e6` and `unknown`) and `units` (residential,
mixed, non-residential and group quarters). All counts.

<Note>
  Monetary poverty by department covers 23 departments and Bogotá: DANE does
  not publish it for Amazonas, Arauca, Casanare, Guainía, Guaviare, Putumayo,
  San Andrés, Vaupés and Vichada. Multidimensional poverty covers all 33. The
  national labour market leaves out the non-capital areas of Amazonía and
  Orinoquía, as DANE does.
