# Banco de la República

> Colombia's official macroeconomic and financial statistics: about 850 series from the TRM and the policy rate to lending rates, inflation, unemployment and GDP, searchable by name or frequency, each readable over any date range.

The Banco de la República is Colombia's central bank. It publishes the country's official macroeconomic and financial statistics: the representative market exchange rate (TRM), the monetary policy rate, the IBR, DTF and deposit rates, lending rates by credit type (consumer, mortgage, commercial, microcredit), credit and monetary aggregates, the consumer price index, unemployment, GDP, the balance of payments, remittances and regional activity. Some series it produces itself; others it republishes from DANE, the Superintendencia Financiera or the Ministry of Finance, and each says which.

About 850 series, each with its full history: consumer prices from 1954, the TRM from 1991, the policy rate from 1998, lending rates from 2002. Each series also says when it was last updated and when the next update is due.

Search the catalog by name, topic or frequency, then read a series' observations by its code, over any date range.

<Note>
  The whole source, organized and ready to query: every endpoint on this page answers in milliseconds. Every response carries `as_of`: how current the data is. [How datasets work](/datasets).
</Note>

## Search the series

`POST /co/banrep/series-search/v1` <a className="dataset-pill" href="/datasets">Dataset</a>

One search over every series the Banco de la República publishes, by name, topic or frequency.

| Field | Type | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| `query` | string | Optional words matched against the series name, description, keywords and categories, e.g. `TRM`, `tasa de política monetaria`, `crédito de consumo` or `desempleo`. |
| `frequency` | enum | Optional native frequency: `daily`, `weekly`, `monthly`, `quarterly`, `semiannual` or `annual`. |
| `page` | integer | 1-based page number. Default `1`. |
| `per_page` | integer | Results per page (1-100). Default `20`. |

```bash theme={"dark"}
curl https://api.croma.run/co/banrep/series-search/v1 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CROMA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{ "query": "crédito de consumo", "frequency": "monthly" }'
```

Returns `as_of` (how current the data is), the applied filters, `total` and `total_is_exact`, `page`, `per_page`, `total_pages`, `count` and `results[]`, best match first (latest observation first without a query). Every series carries `id` (its code, which `series_code` takes), `name`, `description`, `category`, `subcategory` and `topic`, `frequency` (`daily`, `weekly`, `monthly`, `quarterly`, `semiannual` or `annual`), `unit` and `unit_symbol`, `source` (who produces the data, e.g. `Banco de la República` or `DANE`), `produced_by_banrep`, `geography`, `seasonal_adjustment`, `base_period`, `prices`, `decimals`, `definition`, `methodology_url`, `first_date` and `last_date` (the first and latest observation), `last_load_date` (when the Banco de la República last updated it) and `next_load_date` (when it plans to next; null for a discontinued series).

Some codes worth knowing: `1` TRM, `59` monetary policy rate, `15126` consumer lending rate (monthly), `15000` consumer price index, `15312` national unemployment rate, `15154` real quarterly GDP.

## One series

`POST /co/banrep/series/v1` <a className="dataset-pill" href="/datasets">Dataset</a>

The observations of one series by its code, over the whole history or a date range.

| Field | Type | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| `series_code` | string | **Required.** The series code, the `id` of a search result, e.g. `1` (TRM) or `59` (monetary policy rate). |
| `from_date` | string | Optional: only observations on or after this date, `yyyy-mm-dd`. |
| `to_date` | string | Optional: only observations on or before this date, `yyyy-mm-dd`. |

```bash theme={"dark"}
curl https://api.croma.run/co/banrep/series/v1 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $CROMA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
        "series_code": "1",
        "from_date": "2026-09-01",
        "to_date": "2026-09-30"
      }'
```

Returns `as_of`, `found`, `series_code`, `from_date`, `to_date`, `series`, `count` and `observations[]` (`date` and `value`, oldest first). The `date` of a monthly, quarterly or annual value is the last day of its period. Daily series carry every calendar day, weekends and holidays included, with the value in force that day, and can run a few days ahead when a value is set in advance.

<Note>
  A code the Banco de la República publishes no series under returns `found: false` with HTTP 200, not an error.
